Instagram has introduced ‘Guides’; a way to easily discover recommendations, tips and other content from your favourite creators, public figures, organisations and publishers on the platform. The social media network has announced that it will be focusing Guides on wellness content to start with and then rolling the feature out to all creators in the coming months.

“We know many people are struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so we are first focusing Guides on wellness content.”

Guides are now live for selected users and you can find them in a separate tab on an Instagram profile. They work a little bit like Twitter Moments as they display aggregated Instagram posts and videos with tips, commentary, and advice all in one place. Elements of the Guides can either come from the user’s own profile or can be sourced from other creators on Instagram. If you want to learn more about a specific post, just tap on the image or video and you’ll be shown the original post.

How to find Instagram Guides

The new feature enables creators to connect with expert organisations to share resources – including tips on how to look after your well-being, maintaining connections with others and managing mental health. To see what Guides look like up close, visit the profile of one of the following participating creators or organisations, then tap on the book icon underneath the story highlights.

In terms of virality, Guides can be shared to Stories and also in direct messages to other users. Instagram has also said that the feature will start to appear in the Explore tab in the coming days.
